Board Seat
A position on a company's board of directors that grants the holder voting rights and fiduciary responsibilities in corporate governance. Board seats are allocated through the company's charter and shareholder agreements, and in venture-backed startups, they are often negotiated as part of investment terms. Investors, founders, and independent directors typically fill board seats, with the total number defined by the company's bylaws.
