Vice Chairman
A board officer who serves as the second-in-command to the chairman, stepping in to preside over board meetings and perform the chairman's duties when the chairman is absent or unable to serve. The vice chairman (also called vice chair or vice chairperson) may also take on specific responsibilities delegated by the chairman, such as leading certain board initiatives or serving as a liaison to management on particular matters. Not all boards have a vice chairman; the role is more common in larger organizations.
