Who is this for

We built this for a specific kind of company. Here's how to know if that's you.

Most board tools say 'for companies of all sizes.' We don't. I'mBoard is designed for a narrow profile — and we think being honest about that is more useful than pretending we fit everyone.

This is for you if

You'll get the most value from I'mBoard when this sounds like your situation.

You're a startup CEO, Seed through Series B

Your company has raised venture capital, you have a formal board with investor directors, and you run quarterly (or monthly) board meetings. Revenue between $0 and $20M ARR.

Your board has 3 to 7 members

A typical early-stage board — 1-2 founders, 2-3 investor directors, maybe an independent. Small enough that relationships matter, large enough that coordination is real work.

You spend 2-3 days per quarter on board prep

Chasing your CFO for financials, your VP Sales for pipeline numbers, assembling a deck, formatting slides, distributing materials, and then scrambling to prepare talking points. Every quarter.

Your team is 10 to 100 people

Big enough that multiple people contribute to the board pack (finance, sales, product, HR) but small enough that you don't have a Chief of Staff or board secretary handling this.

Your investors expect structured reporting

They want ARR progression, cash runway, headcount changes, pipeline data, and a strategic narrative — not a 40-slide deck with no numbers or a casual email update.

You want to try before you talk to sales

You'd rather explore a live demo and sign up on your own than sit through a 30-minute sales call to see pricing. $30/seat/month, visible on the website, no negotiation.

This is NOT for you if

We'd rather save you the evaluation time.

We don't serve every company, and pretending we do would waste your time. Here's when I'mBoard isn't the right fit.

You're a public company or pre-IPO

If you need proxy management, SEC filing integration, D&O questionnaires, or compliance workflows for SOX/Reg FD — that's Diligent or Nasdaq Boardvantage territory. We don't do regulatory governance.

Your board has 10+ members

Large boards with complex committee structures, formal voting procedures, and dedicated governance staff need enterprise board portals. I'mBoard is built for the 3-7 member startup board.

You just need a document repository

If you only need a place to upload and share board decks — Google Drive, Notion, or a shared folder works fine. I'mBoard's value is in running the process, not storing files.

You're a solo founder with no formal board yet

If you don't have investor directors or regular board meetings, you don't need board management software yet. When you raise your Seed round and form a board, come back.

You want a white-glove managed service

We don't assign you a dedicated account manager or run your board meetings for you. I'mBoard is software that automates the process — you still own the content and the relationships.

You need offline-only or air-gapped access

I'mBoard is cloud-based. If your board materials can't live on a hosted platform due to regulatory or security constraints, we're not the right fit.

What to expect

How your first board cycle works with I'mBoard.

From signup to your first board meeting — here's the timeline.

Day 1: Setup in under 30 minutes

Create your board, invite members and contributors, set your meeting schedule. Import existing materials or start from a template. No onboarding call required — though the founder is available if you want one.

Week 1-2: Data collection runs automatically

I'mBoard reaches out to your contributors (CFO, VP Sales, team leads) for their sections. It nags them on schedule and escalates to you only if someone goes dark. You don't chase anyone.

Week 2-3: Validation and assembly

Data gets cross-referenced against past reports and live sources. Discrepancies are flagged with the contributor, not dumped on you. The board pack is assembled — AI drafts the narrative, you review and edit. Starting from 80% done.

Week 3: Distribution and pre-meeting feedback

The board pack goes to members 5-7 days before the meeting. They review, comment, and flag concerns in the app. Read tracking shows who opened what. Feedback is collected before you walk in.

Day of: CEO prep and the meeting

Here's what changed since the draft. Here's what feedback came in. Here's where the board will push back. Here's the data to support your answers. You run the meeting prepared — not anxious.

After: Follow-ups close the loop

Decisions and action items are captured. I'mBoard tracks owners and deadlines, chases follow-ups, and escalates only when someone is overdue. The next cycle schedules itself.

What this looks like in practice

A typical board cycle: before and after.

Not a testimonial. Just arithmetic. The time savings come from eliminating coordination overhead — chasing people, reconciling data, formatting decks, distributing materials.

Before I'mBoard — 12 CEO days per year

A Series A startup with 5 board members and quarterly meetings. The CEO spends 3 full days per cycle: 1 day chasing 4 contributors for data, half a day reconciling numbers, 1 day assembling and formatting the deck, half a day distributing and fielding last-minute questions. That's 12 days per year — nearly 5% of working days — on board administration.

After I'mBoard — 4 hours per cycle

Same company. Data collection is automated — contributors get reminders, escalation only if needed. Validation catches discrepancies before they reach the CEO. The board pack assembles itself. The CEO reviews the draft, edits the narrative, and approves distribution. Total hands-on time: about 4 hours.

The math

Cost: $30/seat × 8 seats (5 board members + 3 contributors) = $240/month, $2,880/year. Savings: ~11 CEO days per year. For a founder whose time is worth $500-1,000/hour, that's $44,000-$88,000 in recovered capacity — a 15-30x return on a $2,880 annual spend.

For technical founders

Optional: agent-based automation.

Most CEOs start with the product as a standard board management tool. Agent automation is an upgrade path — available when your team is ready, not a prerequisite to get value.

Your CFO's agent pulls from Quickbooks

Fills the financial schema — revenue, runway, cash position. No manual data entry.

Your VP Sales' agent pulls from the CRM

Fills the pipeline schema — bookings, pipeline, win rates. No spreadsheet wrangling.

Three integration paths

REST API with 19 scoped tokens. MCP server with 66 tools. CLI with 65+ commands. Your competitors offer zero.

Common questions

Things people ask before signing up.

What stage companies use I'mBoard?

Primarily Seed through Series B — companies that have raised venture capital, have a formal board with investor directors, and run quarterly board meetings. Revenue from pre-revenue to $20M ARR.

How is this different from Zeck or Diligent?

Zeck gives you a portal to build your board pack — you still do the work. Diligent serves public companies with compliance needs. I'mBoard runs the board cycle for you: data collection, validation, assembly, distribution, and CEO prep. Plus: self-serve signup, transparent pricing at $30/seat/month, and the only board tool with a public API.

Do I need to be technical?

No. The product works like any board management tool — upload, edit, distribute. The API and agent features are optional and aimed at technical founders who want to automate data collection.

What if I only have 3 board members?

That's the minimum board size we support — and it's common for Seed-stage companies. The pricing minimum is 3 seats ($90/month). You can add contributors (CFO, VP Sales) as additional seats.

Can I switch from another board tool?

Yes. Most teams import existing materials and are running their first cycle within a day. We don't lock you in — export your data anytime.

Is my board data secure?

TLS 1.3 in transit, AES-256 encryption at rest. Role-based access controls with 19 API token scopes, instant revocation, audit trails, and billing-state enforcement. See our Security page for details.
